I had mentioned the Archos 7 in an earlier post. Back then, not much detail was available. That changed quickly with an indepth-article on engadget.com. It now seems that the Android-powered Home Tablet is getting ready for shipping. Both, Redcoon.de and Amazon.de are now taking pre-orders for the 8 GB models.

The LA Times reports that Qualcomm, a San Diego company, plans to launch its own e-reader including a new and improved verion of E Ink, as used by the Amazon Kindle. Called Mirasol, the new display technology is supposed to increase battery life on a e-reader device by up to 500 percent.

According to the NYT, the Nook will hit finally hit the shelves! Although available online since November, the Kindle rival will make it’s debut in B&N stores on Wednesday. The device has seen mixed reviews but might land decent sales before the iPad hits the Apple stores in March. Good luck, B&N, you might need it!
