After being subject of some previous posts here on this blog, the WePad was recently presented by its manufacturer at a press conference in Berlin, Germany. Against initial claims, the system was running Windows rather than Linux and was showing a video loop, running on Windows Media Player. The company, represented by co-founder Hoffer von Ankershoffen, had no comments.
Update: The company announced that the WePad will make another appearance in a smaller setting, scheduled for the 26th of Aril. Neofonie promised that the device will run Linux as initially planned. German publisher “Gruner+Jahr” will continue to collaborate with the company on a mobile version of its boulevard magazine “Stern”, despite the recent set-back at the press event.
